The Indian women’s cricket team extended their series lead against England to 2-0 in the current T20I series with a victory at the County Ground in Bristol. This marks a historic moment as the first time the Indian team has achieved back-to-back wins against England in T20I history. It also broke England’s previously undefeated streak at Bristol, where they had won all five prior T20I matches.
Amanjot Kaur played a key role, rescuing India from an early slump at 31/3. She then took the critical wicket of England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt, impacting the home side. Jemimah Rodrigues also contributed with a strong batting performance, partnering with Amanjot for a 93-run stand. Richa Ghosh’s quick 32 runs helped India reach a total of 181 after losing the toss.
England’s chase began poorly, mirroring India’s start with their top three batters dismissed for just 17 runs. A 70-run partnership between Tammy Beaumont and Amy Jones briefly stabilized the innings. However, Indian bowlers kept the pressure, and England fell short, finishing at 157.
Shree Charani continued her strong start, taking two wickets while conceding 28 runs in her four overs. England’s innings included three run-outs, hurting their chances. They now have lost for the third time in a row to India in this format.
This series also marks the first time England’s women have lost two matches in a five-match T20I series. Before this, they had a history of dominance in such series, including three 5-0 sweeps, three 4-1 wins, and a 4-0 victory against New Zealand in 2012.
