Former Carabian batter Brian Lara said that it might be a breakthrough season for Nitish Reddy. Lara further praised Nitish, saying that his heroics were far from fluke and that he was here to stay.
The young all-rounder played a commendable innings, scoring 64 of just 37 deliveries after SRH were reduced to 66/4 in 10 overs.
In his interaction with Star Sports, Brian Lara said, “As a coach last year, he was with us. This kid has so much talent. He works hard in the nets, bat, and ball.”
Lara further added, “We had many, many conversations about him getting to play, but because of where we were, that inexperience couldn’t work for us. It’s great to see him come out and pretty much stamp his position on that SRH team. I know Mayank Agarwal is injured, but this guy looks like he is ready to spend some time in the IPL.”
Nitish Reddy rose to occasion when the big guns of Sunrisers Hyderabad, like Travis Head,Aiden Markram, and Henrich Klassen, failed to deliver.
Reddy was sent to bat at number four, where he played a vital knock for his team, which in the end helped his side win the match.
Speaking about the same, Lara said, “Nitish Reddy is coming in at No. 4. As a young man, as you said, he was just playing his 8th T20 game. He has the talent. He shows he has the skills. That was not a fluke; that’s proper cricket he played throughout. Great fielder and a handy bowler as well.”
