T20 World Cup Team Rested, Shikhar Dhawan Will Lead India Against South Africa

Team India’s senior left-handed opener Shikhar Dhawan will be assigned as captain for the upcoming ODI series on Indian soil. This news is confirmed by one of the BCCI officials.

According to the reports, the captaincy is being given to Shikhar Dhawan as the members to be picked for the T20 World Cup will be rested for this ODI series. Also, former Indian batter VVX Laxman will once again have the coaching duties in the absence of Rahul Dravid.

The 8th edition of the T20 World Cup will be played from 16th to 13th of November this year and the tournament will be hosted by Australia. Team India did not have a great time in the recently concluded Asia Cup 2022.

India and South Africa will clash with each other for the 3 Match ODI and T20 series starting from September 28. The first T20I of the series will be played in Thiruvananthapuram on September 28 followed by the 2nd and the third on 2nd October and 4th in October in Guwahati and Indore respectively.

The first match of the 3-match ODI series will start on October 6th where Shikhar Dhawan will lead the team in Lucknow. The other 2 matches will be played in Ranchi and Delhi respectively, on October 9 and 11.
