The young finisher of Kolkata Knight Riders Rinku Singh did not find a place in the 2024 T20 World Cup squad picked by BCCI, two days back. The batter was now seen having a conversation with India’s captain Rohit Sharma, after being left out of India’s squad for the T20 World Cup.
This interaction between both the players took place at the Wankhede Stadium before MI’s match against KKR. Although Rinku did not make it to India’s 15-member squad, he is part of the reserves and will accompany the team to the USA and the West Indies.
The KKR franchise’s official social media account shared a photo of Rinku’s conversation with Rohit. The captain of the Indian team was dressed in his national team’s attire and he recently had a press conference with the media along with Ajit Agarkar.
Rohit’s words would have uplifted the mood of Rinku Singh after his omission from the main squad. Rinku not being selected for India’s 15-player squad sparked considerable discussion.
Agarkar is aware of Rinku’s disappointment at not being selected and recognizes the difficulty faced by the selectors in making such decisions. He also pointed out the unique playing conditions in the USA and suggested adding another spinner to provide more flexibility to the team.
“Probably the toughest thing we have had to do. He has done nothing wrong, nor has Shubman Gill. It’s again the combinations. Like Rohit said, we are not sure about what conditions we will get. We have tried to have enough options. There are a couple of wrist spinners, Chahal and Kuldeep to give, Rohit more options,” Agarkar said in the press conference.
