T20 World Cup 2024: Ajit Agarkar And Rohit Sharma To Meet For The Indian Squad Selection In Delhi

The Chairman of the national selection committee, Ajit Agarkar, and Indian team skipper Rohit Sharma are anticipated to hold a meeting in the capital city regarding the potential selection of a 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup 2024.

The official announcement is likely to take place in Mumbai on May 1, which is the deadline set by the International Cricket Council(ICC)

According to reports, Agarkar flew to Delhi specifically for Saturday’s IPL match between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals. This way, he could also talk with Captain Rohit and gain more clarity before discussing with his colleagues to finalize the team.

A few positions are open for discussion because most of the team has already decided. There won’t be many unexpected choices, and the main concern for the selection committee and team management is ensuring that Hardik Pandya is fit to bowl.

If Hardik is included in the 15-member squad, then only either Shivam Dube or Rinku Singh can also be chosen. It appears that KL Rahul, who is favored by the current coaching setup led by Rahul Dravid, has surpassed his closest competitor Sanju Samson by a significant margin.
