T20 World Cup 2022: Ricky Ponting Predicts The 2 Finalist, Also Named The Champion

The 8th edition of T20 World cup will be hosted by Australia. Before this event, many former veterans have started predicting about different aspects for this mega event. Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting has also joined the party and has named the two finalists team for T20 World cup 2022.

Ponting is one of the sharpest brains in cricket history and currently he is serving as the head coach of Delhi Capitals in Indian Premier League(IPL). He is one one of the keen observers of the game and talking to Sanjana Ganesan, the legend has now shared his views on the upcoming T20 World Cup on the latest episode of the ICC Review.

Talking about the teams which will make it into the final, Ponting highlighted the names of defending champion Australia and the winner of inaugural season- India. Adding to it, he had his bet on Australia to beat India in the final game.

Ponting said,”I think India and Australia will be the two playing in the final and I will just have to say that Australia will beat them in the final.”

He further added,”The reigning champions have got home conditions and that was one thing that made Australia’s win in the last World Cup, not remarkable, but that little bit sweeter for them.”

Speaking about the last year’s T20 World Cup, Ponting figured that Australia was not favourite while playing at UAE grounds, however the team in yellow led by Aaron finch clinched a victory against the New Zealand.

Apart from Australia and India, the two time world champion captain Ricky Ponting also said that England has a very good set up of white-ball cricket and it will be difficult for any team to go beyond them. He said that the English team might generate danger for the opponents.

Let us tell you that Ponting is termed as one of the most successful captains in cricket history. Under his leadership, Australia went down to win the 2003 and 2007 ODI world Cup. With the T20 World Cup approaching, Ponting wants the Aussies to replicate the same what they did last year.
