T20 World Cup 2022: Here Are The List Of All Award winners

With a thrilling victory over Pakistan on Sunday at Melbourne Cricket Ground, England won the T20 World Cup 2022. (November 13). While bowling first, English bowlers kept up their strong recent form by limiting Pakistan to 137/8. Then, star all-rounder, Ben Stokes smashed 52 runs off 49 balls to lead England to a five-wicket victory with six balls remaining.

After defeating Australia in the 2010 T20 World Cup final in the West Indies for the illustrious trophy, England has now won the tournament twice. The T20 and ODI World Cup competitions of the ICC are currently being won by England.

Pakistan, despite losing its first two Super 12 group stage matches, was impressive throughout the competition. While defending a low-scoring total, bowlers gave it their all, but England’s batters held off any late Pakistani comeback.

Virat Kohli of India won the competition with four half-centuries and the maximum score of 196 runs, and Wanindu Hasaranga of Sri Lanka claimed 15 wickets in just eight innings. Rilee Rossow of South Africa scored the best individual total against Bangladesh, smashing 109 runs.

Player of the tournament – Sam Curran
The English bowler added three more wickets to his tournament-best total in the championship game. In his four-over performance, Curran claimed three wickets while giving up just 12 runs, earning him player of the match honors. With 13 wickets from just six innings and an outstanding economy rate of 6.52, he finished the tournament as England’s highest wicket-taker and won the tournament player of the year title.

Most runs in the tournament – Virat Kohli
With an 82* batting average against Pakistan in the opening match of the group stage, the former Indian skipper made his intentions obvious. To conclude the tournament with 296 runs from six innings at an average of 98.66 and a strike rate of 136.40, Virat Kohli added three additional half-centuries, including one against England in the semifinal match.

Most wickets in the tournament – Wanindu Hasaranga
Despite Sri Lanka’s troubles throughout the competition, the current world’s best T20I bowler collected 15 wickets from eight innings at an economy rate of 6.41. Notably, Hasaranga also had the most wickets (16) in the tournament’s most recent iteration in 2021.
