T20 World Cup 2022: Danushka Gunathilaka Ruled Out Of The Tournament, Replacement Announced

The injury concerns of Sri Lanka continue on their way to reach the super 12 of the T20 World Cup. After Dushmantha Chameera, now Danushka Gunathilaka has been ruled out of the tournament set to be played in Australia.

According to the reports, the batter suffered a hamstring injury which was confirmed on the official website of the International Cricket Council.

Earlier it was understood that Gunathilaka will go through a fitness test ahead of the matches but after the assessment by the medical team, it was decided that the batter is not enough to fit to play in the tournament.

Without wasting any time, Sri Lanka announced his replacement, and the traveling reserve Ashen Bandara will take the batter’s place.

Sri Lanka will play its next match against the Netherlands which will be a do-or-die one. Bandara doesn’t have enough experience to play under Australian conditions and it will be interesting to see how the Lankans get across the line to reach at the super-12 contests.
