Rohit Sharma came back to form with a brilliant century in the second ODI match against England held at Cuttack. Rohit went on like an avalanche, scoring 119 off only 90 deliveries, helping India chase down 305 runs with more than five overs to spare. This was Rohit’s first ODI century since he struck against Afghanistan during the 2023 World Cup, which had lasted for 487 days since his last ODI hundred. His teammates from the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League include Yuvraj Singh and Hardik Pandya, who paid tribute to him after his knock.
Suryakumar wrote on his Instagram story: “Good things happen to good people; God is great,” who currently captains India in T20I cricket.
Meanwhile, Hardik, who himself was in the playing XI to win the second ODI for India, also appreciated the Cuttack crowd.
“Cuttack, what an atmosphere. Rohit Sharma stole the show,” he captioned his post on Instagram.
Yuvraj Singh, who once shared the dressing room with Rohit Sharma, also paid tribute to him; he dubbed the innings a great success, saying, “And he’s back with a bang! Cannot keep the hitman quiet for long. Cracker of an innings with the bat doing all the talking,” Yuvraj posted on X.
Hardik faces Rohit as captain, yet he will, in reverse, captain Rohit once more for another season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
It is also Rohit’s first century in almost a year, since the last ton across all formats came while playing the home Test series against England during 2024.
