Indian spin bowler Ravi Bishnoi complimented Suryakumar Yadav and Shubman Gill, and shared that both the team’s captain and vice-captain have supported him. Bishnoi took three wickets and gave away 26 runs in his four-over spell during India’s second T20 match against Sri Lanka at the Pallekele Stadium on July 28, Sunday. Bishnoi was named Player of the Match for his performance, as he excelled with his bowling on a pitch that favored spin. He mentioned that Suryakumar has been an excellent leader and he enjoys bowling under his guidance. Bishnoi also praised Shubman, Suryakumar’s deputy, for how well he has been performing his role.
“Suryakumar is performing well as a captain. I had the chance to play under his leadership during the series in Australia, and he was effective. Shubman Gill also did a fantastic job as captain. In Zimbabwe, I also had a good experience leading the team. They consistently support me, and as a bowler, there’s nothing more you can ask for than having a captain who backs you. Both Suryakumar and Shubman have supported me,” Bishnoi mentioned during the post-match interview.
India has already won the 3-match T20 series with a 2-0 lead, making it impossible for the other team to catch up. The new leadership under Suryakumar and Gambhir has started well, and they are looking to win all three matches.
Bishnoi mentioned that he has a strong relationship with the new head coach, Gambhir, who was also his guide at LSG during the IPL.
“I have a strong relationship with Gautam Gambhir, who has been with LSG for two years. He hasn’t asked me to change anything. He just told me to keep doing what I’m doing. His advice has been helpful to me in the past, and it still is.”
Bishnoi took advantage of the pitch that helped spin bowling and made it difficult for the Sri Lankan batters.
“They usually handle spin well, but I’m not sure what went wrong. They lost many wickets during the middle part of the game, even though they were considered good at playing spin. Something must have gone wrong,” Bishnoi mentioned.
He focused on his performance and contribution to the team’s victory, leaving yesterday’s injury behind. Bishnoi also expressed no disappointment about missing a hat-trick, as it was beyond his control.
