Team India’s superstar Virat Kohli has been out of action for quite a while now. The star batsman missed the ongoing five-match test series due to embarassing parenthood for the second time.
With only one test match of the series between the sides left, which is set to take place in Dharamshala on March 7, the IPL is set to take center stage.
The IPL schedule for the first two weeks has already been announced, with the defending champions, Ms. Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings, taking on the Red Army Royal Challengers Bangalore on March 22, which marks the beginning of the tournament.
As Virat Kohli is out of action currently, there are speculations about his participation in the upcoming season of the IPL.
Speaking on the same, former Indian great Sunil Gavaskar said, “Kya woh khelenge… kuchh reason ke liye khel nahin rahe hain, shaayad ho sakta hai ke IPL ke liye bhi na khele. This was Gavaskar’s reply when asked about Virat Kohli’s participation in the upcoming season of the IPL.
Gavaskar also went on to praise India’s young wicketkeeper, Dhruv Jurel, calling him the next superstar of Indian cricket. Dhurv Jurel will be seen playing for the Rajasthan Royals in the upcoming season of the IPL.
Gavaskar also appreciated Mumbai’s move to make Hardik Pandya the new skipper ahead of the upcoming IPL season, as this will allow Rohit Sharma to play freely as a batter.

Gavaskar is also quite excited to see how Rishabh Pant makes his comeback in the upcoming season of the IPL after the left-hander met with a car accident, which forced him to stay away from cricket for quite a long period of time.
Gavaskar has named the Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings as favorites, with KKR as the dark horse in the upcoming season of the IPL.
