After the squad’s departure from the Champions Trophy, former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has criticized England following their embarrassing defeat to Afghanistan on Wednesday. Having been compiled for 326 runs, England were bowled 317 with one ball left Lahore. Former ICC Champions Trophy captains Nasser Hussain and Michael Atherton criticized Jos Buttler’s management after England’s departure and declared his term as white-ball captain to be over.
“Their cricket is way below the standards they set themselves. At times you have to confess when something is not working and make a change. Buttler perhaps knows that deep down, too,&# Atherton remarked on Sky Sports.
Hussain echoed comparable views—that Buttler’s predecessor Morgan has not demonstrated the same level of leadership.
