The incident that transpired between Mohammed Siraj and Travis Head now has become the buzzing topic. A verbal quarrel apparently took place between Siraj and Head on Day 2 of the Ind Vs Aus Adelaide Test. Head hit Siraj for a huge six but the Indian pacer came back well, taking the batter out on the very next ball. Siraj basically celebrated the wicket in a very animated manner and was clearly not happy with that by Head. The Australian was exchanging some words with Siraj which all ended on a party note.
Interestingly, Head said after the day’s play that he jokingly said “well bowled” to Siraj after which the bowler gave such a reaction. While Siraj was asked about the same incident quoting Head, he said that the Australian batter was “lying” and had also abused him during that face-off.
Former India captain feels Australian fans will target Siraj, and the pacer is going through this all over.
“Siraj is going to get per bit of spit from the crowd wherever he goes from now because once the Australians identify somebody who is supposed to be the bogeyman of the piece, they will get stuck into him. Stuart Broad has been that under England, when he travels, there are front-page articles encouraging Australians to boo him when Broad didn’t walk when he edged the ball to slip,” Gavaskar said to India Today.
“I think for the Australian side, it’s going to be Siraj as the villain for them, and he’s going to have to face it. It’d be important now for the rest of the team to come by and tell him, ‘Listen. You go out and do your best’,” he added.
However on the other hand, Head and Siraj patched things up the very next day giving in to a batting showdown.
