Team India’s legendary opener, Sunil Gavaskar, has named his choices for the best opening pair in the IPL. The legendary opener believes that the opening combination of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway is the best opening pair in the IPL.
Gavaskar went on to praise the duo of Ruturaj and Conway, saying that the duo played a massive role in guiding the yellow army to success, which they have achieved over the years. .
Gavaskar went on to further say that both Gaikwad and Conway are the pillars that helped the Chennai Super Kings clinch their fifth IPL title.
Gavaskar further said that both openers have been providing CSk regular starts over the years. The opening stand provided by Gaikwad and Conway eased the pressure from the CSk middle-order batsmen, who were in line to follow.
Gavaskar further raised questions on the CSK auction strategy at the table, saying that the team lacked experience in the middle order after the retirement of Ambati Rayadu. However, they went on to pick young players, so that gives the squad a balance of both youth and experienced players.
