The modern era has been bestowed upon the current Indian team some of the best fast bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah , Mohammed Shami , Mohammed Siraj etc . Hence Marnus Labuschagne believes they are not easy to get rid of on Australian pitches where he would like to score runs when Rohit Sharma’s team visits his country later this year for Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
This time around it will be an entirely different affair for India who have won the last two bilateral Test series against Australia after losing the previous one by 1-2 in their tour in 2014-15. They have not lost even one bilateral test series during this span which included matching 2-1 series triumphs over Australia in 2018-19 and 2020-21 respectively maintaining a strong hold on BGT.
“India’s fast bowling is very good, which is really what brings them in Australian conditions and make them such a tough team to beat in Australian conditions,” Labuschagne told Star Sports.
The middle order star views such competitions as ‘logical tough’ wheresoever. Nevertheless, it’s always high tension in anticipation. According to these two teams, whether we are playing in England, Australia or India it is tough competition,” he said.
All-rounder Cameron Green believed that the 5-Test series between India and Australia which starts on November 22 at Perth could give a “sneak preview” for next year’s World Test Championship final.
With 68.52 percent points (74 points), India are leading ahead of Australia who have 62.50 percent (90) on the WTC board for the years between 2023-25.
The WTC final will take place from June 11 to 15 next year at Lord’s and might see both current top-two teams back again.
Both times India reached summit clashes of WTC but lost them to New Zealand (2019-21) and Australia (2021-23).
Green said, “Every single point is really important for the World Test Championship. Any way you can so that we may have an idea of whether we are winning, we will try to achieve it.”
“For us it is sort of like a preview to what a World Test Championship final might look like if we get it right,” he mentioned further more on but they would always want to draw something from India in order for them to win the tournament again.
