Stuart Broad, the former England bowler, thinks India has the upper hand going into the final day of the first Test against England at Headingley. Broad feels that the new ball will be crucial for England. He stated that India is in a better position since they only need to create 10 chances to clinch the game. “Getting through that new ball period is going to be key for England tomorrow. I think India has to be the favorites on a day five pitch. They just need to take their catches, he said during a Sky Sports segment.
After India was all out for 364 in the final session, England’s openers, Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett, batted for the last six overs. They played it safe and ensured England went into day five without losing any wickets, reaching 21 runs without losing anyone.
Broad pointed out that while the England team might believe they have a good shot, Gill’s ability to manage his bowlers will be vital in turning the tide. But England will be in the dressing room thinking they are favorites. Gill has to use his bowlers effectively. They need to come in and really attack the pitch, he added.
On the final day, the pitch at Headingley could pose challenges for the losing team. KL Rahul, who scored 137 runs, hopes that wear on the surface will help India take advantage.
