Star Indian Batter Ruled Out Of WTC Final, KKR Gets In Problem As Well

The star batter of team India, Shreyas Iyer will no longer participate in the ongoing 16th season of the Indian Premier League due to a back injury. The 28-year-old batter will now undergo a surgical procedure to recover from this injury.

Iyer got injured during Australia’s tour of India ahead of the IPL 2023.In the absence of Shreyas Iyer, Nitish Rana has been captaining the Kolkakat Knight Riders and now he will continue to do so for this season as well. Also, Iyer will not be able to participate in the upcoming World Test Championship final between India and Australia which is scheduled to take place at The Oval in England starting from June 7.According to a report by ESPNCricinfo, Iyer is scheduled to travel abroad for his surgery and he will be out of cricket for at least three months.

He will only be able to resume training only after the surgery. Initially, there were reports that Iyer had decided not to undergo surgery. However, based on recent updates, he has opted for the surgery to ensure timely recovery from his injury.Iyer first experienced back pain when Bangladesh arrived in India.

He was then subsequently sidelined from the international team for more than a month. He made a comeback during the Border Gavaskar Trophy in February but received similar problems during the fourth and final Test of the series in Ahmedabad.
