Melbourne Stars were big winners in their opening match of BBL|10 as they did a very good job with both bat and ball which saw them comfortably overcome Brisbane Heat by six wickets and they will now look to make it back-to-back successes as they face a short turnaround.

The Stars produced a solid performance with the ball in their opening contest against the Heat as they bowled their opponents out for 125 with Nathan Coulter-Nile doing the vast majority of the damage with a superb return of 4-10.

Despite losing a couple of early wickets in their reply, Hilton Cartwright steadied the ship with a composed 46* and when he was paired with Glenn Maxwell who struck 46 off just 26 balls, the duo combined for a fourth-wicket stand of 75 which provided to be decisive.

Sydney Thunders Preview  :

IN BBL 2019 (3rd):

17 M, 8 W, 8 L

One of the underachieving sides in Big Bash League (BBL) history, Sydney Thunder do have one title to their name, won in the 2015-16 season. Going into the 10th edition, Thunder have one great advantage over other sides. It is the availability of their top players, both Australian and foreign.

Sydney Thunder will be led by Callum Ferguson, who scored 376 runs last season in his 17 outings. Alex Hales was the second highest scorer of the tournament last year, registering 576 runs with a strike rate of just under 150. They have the likes of Alex Ross and Usman Khawaja which strengthens their batting.

The fast bowling department will be led by Daniel Sams who was the top wicket taker in the last edition of BBL. He picked up 30 wickets in his 17 outings. He will be accompanied by Chris Tremain and Adam Milne. The Thunders also possess the likes of Sam Billings(Unavailable) who can play handy knocks from the middle order.
