SRH vs CSK, IPL 2024: CSK Coach Stephen Fleming Spoke On The Absence Of Mustafizur Rahman and Matheesha Pathirana In The Loss Against SRH

CSK coach Stephen Fleming expressed regret over the absence of Mustafizur Rahman and Matheesha Pathirana for their match against SRH. However, at the same time, he admitted that it is part of the IPL process.

In Hyderabad, CSK suffered their second consecutive loss as the home team efficiently chased down the target of 166. From Sunirsers Hyderabad, the opening batter Abhishek Sharma played a sensational knock of 37 runs in 12 balls and gave a flying start to the team.

On Friday, CSK faced a shortage in their bowling department, where Mustafizur Rahman returned to Bangladesh due to visa issues, and Pathirana did not participate in the game due to a side niggle.

During the post-match press conference, Fleming expressed that Mustafizur’s absence was felt by the team. He acknowledged that Mukesh Choudhary was making his IPL comeback and had a tough outing where he spent 27 runs in his only over.

“Without a doubt, it’s It’s part of the IPL. He’s not here, so we can’t use him. But having injuries and losing players in an IPL is part of the process.”

“We had a chance to introduce Mukesh Chaudhary today. He was good for us a while back. It wasn’t his day. But that’s part of the IPL It’s managing players, and when you do find yourself a little bit short on firepower, it’s finding the new hero,” said Fleming.

Fleming also believed that his team fell short by about 15 runs and admitted that they were not accurate enough during the powerplay overs.

“And, it didn’t happen today, but we put trust in the players that we introduced and they’ve been training well and doing the job. Tough baptism. The first five or six overs were the best to bat, and the aggressive way in which they played showed that. So, being able to get a wicket first over and maybe shut down the second, it could have been a competitive score, but maybe 15 short and, not quite accurate enough for first six overs with the ball,” said Fleming.
