Surprising news is coming out from Hyderabad ahead of the match between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad. The Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited TSSPDCL disconnected power to the Uppal Stadium prior to the SRH vs CSK IPL match scheduled for Friday. This decision was made due to the HCA’s failure to pay the outstanding electricity bill with an approximate amount of Rs 1.6 crore.
The power department had issued multiple notices to the HCA to settle outstanding dues totaling Rs 3,05,12,790. This comprised Rs 1,41,18,269 as principal dues and Rs 1.6 crore as surcharge. The HCA had requested the TSSPDCL to waive the surcharge due to the pandemic.
However, the electricity board declined the request and issued another notice in February this year, demanding payment of the amount.
“In this regard, it is to state that your request for waiver of such surcharge for delay in payment cannot be considered as per the terms and conditions of HT tariff supply clause number 1.2.1 of tariff orders approved by TSERC and as per regulation no. 5 of 2024 in clause no. 4.4,” the notice read.
“In case the consumers do not pay the bills by the due date mentioned, additional charges for delayed payment of bills shall apply as per tariff orders issued from time to time. Hence it is requested to pay the surcharge amount of Rs 1,63,94,521 within 15 days from the date of receipt of this notice. Otherwise, the service will be liable for disconnection without further notice,” it added.
