Rohit Sharma, the ODI captain of India, is definitely one of the top cricketers in the country. His strong leadership and impressive batting stats have really pushed Indian cricket forward. Recently, he announced that he’s stepping away from Test cricket, which opened the door for Shubman Gill to take over as the new Test captain. Off the field, Rohit is known for being laid-back and friendly.
A great example of his humility was shared by social media influencer and IPL presenter Tanay Tiwari. He recently told a story on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast about his time as an intern with the Mumbai Indians, where Rohit saved his career with a kind gesture. Tiwari recalled that while he was interviewing Rohit, he accidentally spilled hot coffee on him at a small table. Someone from Rohit’s team scolded him harshly, leaving Tiwari feeling like his career might be over before it even started.
But Rohit stepped in to help. He was like, ‘Let it go, he’s just a kid. You keep asking your questions; it’s just coffee. Don’t worry,’” Tiwari said. That moment really made a difference for him. “I’ve told him many times how grateful I am. I met him and could only say thank you, telling him how much happiness he brings to so many people. He was like, ‘Come here,’” Tiwari added.
As for Rohit, he’s still making waves as he plays for the Mumbai Indians, who have made it to the playoffs of IPL 2025. They’re set to face off against the Gujarat Titans in the Eliminator match on Friday in Mullanpur.
