The spinner from South Africa, Simon Harmer, was taken to the hospital after leading his team to a win over Team India in the first Test of the two-match series at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Nevertheless, the off-spinner trained again for the second Test, which is going to be held in Guwahati starting from November 22.
Harmer hurt his right shoulder during the opening match of the series. This happened while he was fielding. He went down and hurt his shoulder in the process of preventing the ball from crossing the boundary. The spin bowler was sent to a hospital in Kolkata for scans so that the doctors could know how badly he had been hurt.
Simon Harmer was player of the match for his exceptional bowling display in Kolkata
Simon Harmer took advantage of the spin-friendly pitch at Kolkata to the fullest extent. The visiting team had only two spinners, and he took the most out of the conditions that were good for slow bowlers. India had made a spin pitch, thinking that it would work in their favour.
Harmer had the amazing figures of 8 for 51 in the whole match. In both innings he took four wickets, and the India batters hardly knew how to respond. The spinner dismissed batters like Washington Sundar, Dhruv Jurel, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Rishabh Pant, and Kuldeep Yadav.
Harmer was given the Player of the Match title. The South Africans bundled out the Indians for merely 93 on the third day while defending a small total of 123 runs. They claimed a victory of 30 runs, and this was also their first Test win in India in 15 years.
Simon Harmer bowls long spells ahead of the second test
RevSportz posted pictures of the South African team training at the ACA Stadium for the second Test match on X (formerly known as Twitter). The biggest plus for the visitors was the return of Simon Harmer to action following his shoulder scare during the first match of the series.
Harmer was seen as completely fit when he was bowling for a long time in the nets. Harmer’s recovery is vital for the South African team, mainly after his excellent performance in Kolkata. He is now prepared to enter the Guwahati pitch where the series victory is at stake.

South Africa Climbs to number 2 in the WTC table
After the ICC World Test Championship table for the 2025-27 cycle, South Africa was promoted to the second position. They sit in the second spot behind Australia, having a PCT of 66.67, while Sri Lanka has moved to the third place and India to the fourth at 54.17.
A turning pitch was the stage for Temba Bavuma’s contribution to the South African innings in the form of an unbroken 55 runs. Indian Captain Shubman Gill was the only one missing in the Indian lineup during the run chase. Gill was struck on the leg after facing three balls in the first innings and he was ruled out for the rest of the match.
Washington Sundar and Axar Patel put up a short fight. Sundar made 31 before being sent back by Aiden Markram’s part-time spin, while Patel scored 26 before falling to Maharaj’s spell. The victory led to the most massive celebration ever as South Africa gained a rare Test win on Indian ground.
