Sourav Ganguly gets a new role in ICC, check out

On April 13, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced that Sourav Ganguly will stay on as chair of its Men’s Cricket Committee. He’ll lead a six-member team that’s focused on improving the sport worldwide. Ganguly first took this role in 2021 after Anil Kumble stepped down. His latest job was as the Director of Cricket for the Delhi Capitals Women’s team in the Women’s Premier League, where they reached the finals in 2025.

The committee also includes former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman, who has been reappointed, and South African captain Temba Bavuma, which came as a bit of a surprise. The full list of members is Ganguly, Hamid Hassan, Desmond Haynes, Temba Bavuma, VVS Laxman, and Jonathan Trott.

This committee plays an important role in shaping the future of cricket by advising the ICC Board on issues like playing conditions and rule changes. They also look at things like the Decision Review System and monitor illegal bowling actions.

These appointments were made following suggestions from the ICC’s Chief Executives Committee, which includes BCCI secretary and ICC chairman Jay Shah. The committee aims to support cricket’s growth during these changing times.

Additionally, the ICC announced a new initiative to assist displaced Afghan women cricketers to help with their development and well-being. With Ganguly leading the way, the committee is set to keep pushing for progress in the sport, backed by experienced members like Laxman and current players such as Bavuma.
