However, fans are speculating that the most awaited contest in the Asia Cup will be India taking on Pakistan but BCCI president and former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly doesn’t feel so.
While talking to India today, Ganguly said that even if there is the much anticipated India-Pakistan clash, the focus will remain to clinch the Asia Cup trophy. He said that everyone must see the India – Pakistan clash as a normal match.
While having the conversation to India Today, he said,“I am seeing it as the Asia Cup. I do not see any tournament as India vs Pakistan. When I used to be in my playing days, India vs Pakistan was just another match for me. I always looked to win the tournament. India is a good team and they have done very well in recent times and hopefully they will give a good performance in the Asia Cup as well.”
India will take on Pakistan on 28th August at Dubai International Stadium. If we talk about the history of the Asia Cup, India has won this trophy for the record 7 times, while Pakistan have managed to win only 2.
If we talk about the previous encounters in the Asia Cup, both the teams have played 14 matches in which India have won the 8 matches and lost 5 games.
