These two Rajasthan Royals players face a direct axe from captaincy from Ravindra Jadeja

The Rajasthan Royals (RR) are about to face the most difficult dilemma of the IPL, the Indian Premier League 2026 or rather because of the inclusion of Ravindra Jadeja in the squad.

Rumors say that RR and DC had very nearly concluded the trade deal, nonetheless; it was Ravindra Jadeja who started the trade talks after several conversations with the principal stakeholder, Manoj Badale.

It was said that the Delhi franchise was willing to let go of both Tristan Stubbs and Sameer Rizvi in return for getting their captain back on the team.

Over the last year, the Rajasthan Royals went through wicket-keeper Sanju Samson’s removal saga after Ravindra Jadeja’s mega return.

Ravindra Jadeja at that point stepped forward and stated his wish to be the captain of the Rajasthan Royals, based on which the CSK-RR deal was finalised. The left-arm spinner was given the offer by Badale to go back to CSK and reinitiate the talks with RR as the team was in despair after losing their star player.

Thus, CSK transferred Jadeja and Sam Curran to RR and grabbed the much-publicized deal with Samson.

Interestingly, the left-arm spinner joined the RR for INR 14 crore, i.e., INR 4 crore less than his contract with the CSK, but he accepted that on the ground of the promise made to him regarding the captaincy.

The difficult situation now is that Yashasvi Jaiswal, who is the RR opener, along with the wicket keeper-batter Dhruv Jurel have also made it clear that they would like to captain the franchise. The Royals have also heard from Jaiswal who has already said that he wants the captaincy for himself during the tournament, but when Sanju Samson was recovering from his injury, Riyan Parag was appointed as the captain.

So, it’s going to be Yashasvi Jaiswal vs Dhruv Jurel vs Riyan Parag vs Ravindra Jadeja in the fight for the captaincy at Rajasthan Royals.

Rohit Juglan, a journalist, stated that Jaiswal and Jurel’s names have been mentioned for the captaincy of RR, and even the Indian top-order batter has frankly conveyed to the management that he is willing to take over the team and be its captain in IPL 2026, thereby giving rise to a new problem for the franchise.

The next season saw Jaiswal and Jurel’s candidacy considered but Jaiswal expressed his wish to be the Royals captain in the IPL several times, whereas Jurel has already been earmarked as the future captain by India, with Parag already captaining the team. It will certainly be a challenge for the Rajasthan Royals team management to keep all the candidates happy as they have already promised the captaincy to Jadeja.

The power struggle at RR could result in an overlapping of IPL 2026.

In IPL 2025, it was evident from the on-field as well as the off-field situations that Parag was made captain against Samson’s wish, and this resulted in a big divide within the team. That decision created a division among the Royals, and they had to go through another poor season.

So, it would not be wrong to say that the same drama might unfold again if the players’ egos are not managed by the team management properly.

While Yashasvi is willing to take the captaincy at any cost, Jadeja is eager to gratify his wish of retiring from IPL as the captain, and Parag is also ready to seize the chance and just waiting for the opportunity.

Every move made by Rajasthan Royals will determine their fate in the 2026 IPL, as it is going to be a real challenge keeping everyone on the same page.
