Shubman Gill, the Indian team captain, has once again raised the issue just a few days before the upcoming Test match against South Africa in Guwahati, and he has made an unexpected situation which not even the fans and BCCI could foresee. The medical staff gave him a strict rest, but Shubman Gill went against BCCI’s regulations and opted for travel anyway.
When the Indian team went to the airport for their flight to Guwahati, Gill was already on his way in a different car, with only the team’s physiotherapist by his side. Doctors had warned him that air travel would aggravate the injury to his neck, which was still not completely healed.
Gill to BCCI: “I will not listen to your orders, I will go my way!”
Be that as it may, Shubman Gill is adamant to support his boys in the vital second and the last Test against South Africa, which will start on November 22. Gill’s action has many recalling the tough and no-nonsense attitude of Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir
According to a Revsportz report, “Shubman is on the way to the airport in a separate car accompanied by a physio. India en route to Guwahati. He is clearly not there yet but is defying medical advice to be with his team as the captain.”
BCCI provides an official update
