Shreyas Iyer, the captain of KKR, expressed his team’s pleasure in their successful run in the 2024 Indian Premier League, stating that they felt “invincible” the entire season. When Iyer raised the IPL trophy and KKR won the championship for the third time in the competition’s history, he was speechless. The batter for India was ecstatic to recognize the teamwork of the players and the support personnel.
With an 8-wicket victory over the SunRisers in a lopsided final at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, KKR concluded their incredible run in the IPL 2024 season. The quickest IPL final in history, lasting only 29 overs, saw KKR knock SRH out for 113 in just 18.3 overs, and then they quickly reached the mark in just 9.3 overs.
“All season long, we played like we were unbeatable. Right now, there is so much to be grateful for. Speaking with pride on KKR’s campaign, Shreyas Iyer.
The way the players from Kolkata Knight Riders performed as a team in Sunday’s grand final was indicative of their season. KKR hunted as a pack, bowlers and batsmen coming up together.
While Harshit Rana and Vaibhav Arora, two young guns, combined for three wickets, Mitchell Starc and Andre Russell shared five wickets between them. With two wickets apiece from Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy, SunRisers had no margin for error on the crucial day. However, as KKR easily defeated the aim, Venkatesh Iyer hammered a 24-ball fifty.
Andre Russell’s display with the ball in the championship game and Mitchell Starc’s bravery on the big stage were praised by Shreyas Iyer.
Shreyas said, “It covered everything. The players got up in response to our demands for them. The emotions are hard to put into words. Because Mitchell Starc had performed so well off the field, it was a high-pressure game. An incredible work ethic that young people should learn. Looking towards me to bowl, Russell is holding a magic wand. He produced breakthroughs for us in most of the games. It was made simple for us by Venkatesh Iyer.”
“As I mentioned before, everyone took initiative. We weren’t brought here by a single person; rather, it was a team effort. For us, the season was perfect,” he continued.
