Shreyas Iyer’s historical Landmark as IPL Captain

With a commanding victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Tuesday night, Shreyas Iyer guided the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) into their fourth IPL (Indian Premier League) final, making him a proud captain. With the victory, Shreyas became the first and only skipper in the lucrative league’s history to guide two clubs to the IPL finals.
Under Shreyas’ leadership, KKR has never advanced to the Indian Premier League championship game. In the 2020 season, he had previously guided the Delhi Capitals (DC) to the summit match, where they were defeated by the Mumbai Indians (MI), captained by Rohit Sharma, by a margin of five wickets.
In the first qualifier, Shreyas was unstoppable and completely destroyed the Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers. With the aid of five fours and four maximums, the right-handed hitter struck 58 off just 24 balls to earn his second half-century of the current season.
The captain of KKR assumed responsibility for the chase and made sure his team crossed the finish line without many problems. With a strike rate of 241.66, he never gave the SRH bowlers an opportunity to escape. In conjunction with Venkatesh Iyer’s brilliant 51* off 28 balls, his effort enabled the two-time IPL winners, KKR, to win by eight wickets with 38 balls remaining.
When the match was done, the KKR captain was “elated” and praised everyone of his bowlers for rising to the occasion when it counted most.
