Indian team is facing Australia in the last and fourth test match series in Ahmedabad. But the bad news from the Ahmedabad test match is that the Indian team’s middle order batter Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the current Ahmedabad Test due to lower back pain. BCCI has confirmed Shreyas Iyer’s exclusion.

The BCCI said, “Shreyas Iyer will no longer participate in the fourth Test against Australia. This decision was taken after taking special consideration.”

Shreyas Iyer had complained of pain in the lower back on the third day of the fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Due to this, he did not come down to bat.

The BCCI had informed that Shreyas Iyer complained of pain in the lower back and had been taken for a scan. The BCCI said, “Shreyas Iyer complained of pain in the lower back after the third day. He has been taken for the scan. The BCCI medical team is monitoring him.”

It has not been confirmed whether Iyer will be able to participate in the upcoming ODI series. If Shreyas Iyer is not fit for ODI series against Australia, Sanju Samson may return in the ODI series against Australia starting from 17th March. After the fourth test, an immediate meeting of the BCCI selection committee headed by Shiv Sundar Das will be called, and a decision can be taken regarding Shreyas Iyer.
