Shreyas Iyer makes a massive claim after PBKS loss against RCB

Punjab Kings faced a tough loss, getting beaten by Royal Challengers Bengaluru by seven wickets in Mullanpur during the IPL 2025. This game carried on the trend of their struggles at home and against RCB. The batsmen couldn’t really find their groove, which has been an ongoing issue. Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya started off pretty well and looked promising at the crease, but both got out, and the situation changed quickly. Punjab only managed to score 157 runs.

When it was RCB’s turn to chase, Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal formed a solid partnership that led them to victory. Both of them hit half-centuries, and thanks to their efforts, Bengaluru secured their fifth win of the season. After the match, PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer had some thoughts about the loss. He pointed out that the team is struggling to read the pitch when they bat first, which has been a recurring problem for them. “Most of our guys like to take chances right from the first ball, and that makes it hard to figure out how the pitch is behaving,” said Iyer. He added that they haven’t been able to make the most of the good starts they’ve had.

“It’s a repeat pattern since the first match. The wickets keep getting slower, and since it was an afternoon game, we couldn’t set a total that we could defend. Even when we thought we could take on the bowlers in the middle overs, we missed out on those chances,” he explained.

Despite this recent loss, Punjab Kings have won five of their eight matches so far this season and are sitting fourth on the points table. This match was actually their last home game in Mullanpur, as they will be playing their next home matches in Dharamshala. They haven’t had much luck in Mullanpur, so moving to Dharamshala might be a nice change for them. Next up, they’ll be heading to Kolkata to face the defending champions on April 26, and that’s bound to be an exciting matchup.
