Shreyas Iyer gets nominated for the ICC player of the Month award

Shreyas Iyer from India has been nominated for the ICC men’s player of the month award for March, along with New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra and Jacob Duffy. Iyer had a strong performance in last month’s Champions Trophy, scoring 243 runs in five matches, averaging 48.60, and hitting two half-centuries. He played a key part in India’s victory in the tournament.

According to the ICC, Iyer scored 172 runs in three ODIs in March with an average of 57.33 and a strike rate of 77.47, making him India’s top scorer during the event. His best score was 79 against New Zealand, and he also contributed 45 runs against Australia in the semi-final and 48 runs in the final against the same team to secure the title. The ICC noted his knack for holding the innings together and forming partnerships during critical moments.

Ravindra led the batters with 263 runs in four matches, averaging 65.75 with two centuries. In March, he scored 151 runs in three ODIs with an average of 50.33 and a strike rate of 106.33, while also claiming three wickets at an economy of 4.66. His standout moment was a fantastic 108 in the semi-final against South Africa, where he partnered with Kane Williamson for a crucial 164-run stand.

Duffy, ranking as the No. 1 T20I bowler, made the cut after a strong performance in New Zealand’s 4-1 series win over Pakistan, taking 13 wickets with an economy rate of 6.17 and an average of 8.38.
