‘Should Not Be Playing’, Kevin Pietersen Suggests Dawid Malan’s Replacement In The Remaining Matches Of IPL 2023

The former England captain Kevin Pietersen feels that Jos Buttler and his team need to make adjustments to their lineup after experiencing their fifth defeat in the ongoing 2023 World Cup.

Pietersen suggested that it might be beneficial to leave out the opening batter Dawid Malan for the remaining matches. He also emphasized that 24-year-old batter Harry Brook should be a definite starter for the defending champions.

The former cricketer has recommended that in the absence of Malan, the team’s captain, Jos Buttler, should consider promoting himself to the opening position in the batting order.

“When I was asked who I’d drop from England’s team when I said Brook should have been in, I said Malan. I stand by that even more now. Buttler should be up the top, Malan shouldn’t be playing and Brook has to start EVERY SINGLE GAME!”

Dawid Malan is the top run-scorer for England in the current ICC event. The left-handed batsman has accumulated 236 runs in six matches with an average of 39.99. His notable performance includes a remarkable 140 off 107 balls against Bangladesh, contributing to England’s 137-run victory in that match.

Harry Brook was not selected in England’s provisional squad for the 2023 World Cup in India. Nonetheless, the young player was subsequently included in the final 15-member where he replaced the senior opener Jason Roy.
