Former Pakistani skipper and all-rounder wants skipper Babar Azam to bat at number three for Pakistan in T20 cricket after the team suffered a whitewash (2-0) against England in a four-match series.
During the final game of the series against England, Pakistan’s middle order failed to capitalize on the start provided by the dynamic duo of Rizwan and Babar as they suffered a tragic collapse.
Pakistan’s opener added 59 for the first wicket; however, in the middle overs, Pakistan lost a series of wickets and got itself into a peculiar position of 86/5. However, it was Usamn Khan (38, 21) who helped Pakistan reach 157, but it was never enough as England chased down the target and won the encounter by 7 wickets.
After the loss, former Pakistani skipper Shoaib Malik took his X account and suggested Babar Azam bat at number three for the team.
He wrote, “Tough series! Remember: We’ve been in tough spots before and came out stronger! IMO, Babar should bat at no. 3! We need someone in the middle overs to rotate; you are our best option, and with your guidance, our middle order will do a lot better” .
Apart from this, Shoaib Malik also asked Shadab Khan and youngster Azam Khan not to lose their confidence after a challenging series.
“Azam and Shadab, you two are vital for our team; don’t lose confidence; play with heart; you are match winners. Going into the World Cup, keep your morale high. We’ve got this!” he added.
Pakistan will be next seen in action against the co-host USA on June 6, which will mark the start of the T20 World Cup.
