The ex-Indian cricket player Shikhar Dhawan has announced his wedding to the lovely Sophia Shine, his girlfriend of many years, in a small and private ceremony in Delhi NCR in February, only inviting close friends, cricketers, and celebrities.
The Indian-Irish couple went Instagram official in 2025 after the cricketer had been legally separated from his first wife for about five months. Nevertheless, the couple was seen in public before their love was confirmed. Sophie was at Mullanpur Stadium in 2024 when Dhawan was playing his last IPL season for Punjab, cheering for him and wearing the team’s jersey.
Cricketer Dhawan to marry in a private ceremony
As per Hindustan Times, a close source to the event shared, “It is a new beginning, and they are treating it with quiet happiness and a lot of gratitude,” and that Dhawan is actively involved in the planning and organizing of the event, which will be taking place in Delhi NCR.
It is likely that Dhawan would have current and former cricketers such as Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Suresh Raina, along with some other public personalities as well, at his wedding ceremony, besides the common stars.
The word is that the two had met in Dubai during 2023, and little by little, the camaraderie turned into a romantic relationship which culminated in the wedding. Besides, they are reported to have cohabited for quite a while in India—the ex-cricketer even sometimes shares pictures of them together during events and festivals.
Earlier, Dhawan’s wife was Ayesha Mukherjee, who is currently residing in Australia. They have a son named Zoravar Dhawan, who has also been seen with the father in some interviews long ago. The revelation of the couple’s highly turbulent relationship has resulted in their absolute silence with each other.
