Shardul Thakur to replace Mohsin Khan at LSG

Shardul Thakur is about to join the Lucknow Super Giants for the IPL after not getting picked at the auction. He’ll take the spot of Mohsin Khan, who’s out with an injury. Even though there’s no official word yet, sources say Thakur knows he’s on the team and will head to Visakhapatnam for their first game against Delhi Capitals.

Mohsin has been dealing with an ACL injury and hasn’t played for three months. Just when he tried to come back, he picked up a calf strain during practice. With other bowlers also recovering, the team had to find someone to replace him.

Lucknow’s pace attack has been hit hard. Key players like Akash Deep, Avesh Khan, and Mayank Yadav still haven’t joined the squad. Akash and Mayank are at the training facility working on getting better, while Avesh is still trying to regain full fitness after injuring his knee. Mayank has had a rough time with injuries since last year, but he’s started to bowl again, though he’s not ready for matches yet.

Zaheer Khan, the team mentor, talked about the injury situation and how they’ll have to adapt. He mentioned that some players are at the National Cricket Academy, while others are working with their trainers. He said it’s tough to predict how things will go this season.

With Thakur’s experience, he’ll take charge of the bowling unit since many of their main bowlers are out. Right now, the squad includes just one overseas fast bowler, Shamar Joseph, and some younger Indian players like Rajvardhan Hangargekar and Prince Yadav. While the spin department seems solid, the fast-bowling situation is definitely a worry as the new season kicks off.
