Shane Watson Grills Rajasthan Royals over their defeat against Delhi Capitals

Mitchell Starc gave an incredible performance with his fast bowling as Delhi Capitals took down Rajasthan Royals in a Super Over during their IPL 2025 match. Starc managed to defend 9 runs in the final over, then allowed 11 runs in the Super Over to secure the win for DC.

Rajasthan Royals missed out on victory, and former Australia cricketer Shane Watson strongly criticized their decision to not send Nitish Rana to bat in the Super Over. Rana had just scored 51 runs off 28 balls, but the team chose Riyan Parag, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Shimron Hetmyer instead. Watson couldn’t believe it and wondered what Rana had done wrong to be left out. There were some brainfade moments; we kept asking why Nitish Rana wasn’t sent in the Super Over. You have a guy who’s in form and scored runs, so it just didn’t make sense to not use him, he mentioned after the game.

The match saw Delhi Capitals beating Rajasthan Royals in the Super Over on Wednesday. DC needed 12 runs in the Super Over and got them in just four balls. They started off well, scoring 188 runs for five wickets. For RR, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Nitish Rana both scored fast half-centuries. But in a nail-biting finish, Starc’s final over kept the Royals at 188 for four, sending the game to the Super Over. In that last over, RR needed nine runs, but Starc only gave away eight.

Earlier, the home team got a solid boost from Abhishek Porel, who made 49 runs off 37 balls. Even though KL Rahul took 32 balls for his 38, both skipper Axar Patel, who scored 34 runs off 14 balls, and Tristan Stubbs, who finished with 34 not out off 18, picked up the pace to push DC past 185 runs.
