Pakistan is ready to play England in a three-match Test series next month. The first game against the team led by Ben Stokes is planned to happen in Multan on October 7, and the second match will also be in Multan from October 15-19. Originally, Karachi’s National Stadium was chosen for the second Test, but because of ongoing construction work there, the match has been moved.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will announce the team for the upcoming series at home later this week. According to a report from Cricket Pakistan, three to four players might be removed from the team that played against Bangladesh.
Last month, Pakistan played Bangladesh in a two-match Test series and lost both games badly. Even though the team did poorly under his leadership, Shan Masood, who became Pakistan’s Test captain last year, is expected to keep his job. The left-handed batter has lost all five matches he has captained so far.
Earlier this month, it was said that he would be removed from his position, but new reports say he will get another chance. He will also have a say in choosing the players for the upcoming important series at home.
After talking with the captain and head coach, the selection committee will make a list of possible players. Once the PCB chairman approves it, the team will be officially announced.
Pakistan left out fast bowlers Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah from their team for the second Test against Bangladesh. It will be interesting to see if they get chosen for the team or not. The performance of opening batsmen Abdullah Shafique and Saim Ayub has been a problem for Pakistan for a while now. Also, star batsman Babar Azam hasn’t scored a fifty or more in his last 16 Test innings.
Even though Babar probably won’t be dropped from the team, the same can’t be said for Saim and Shafique, who received a lot of criticism for their poor performance against Bangladesh.
