Shakib Al Hasan to continue playing for Bangladesh until found guilty: Reports

Veteran all rounder Shakib al Hasan, who was mentioned in a report about a murder during some big protests in Bangladesh, will still be allowed to play cricket for his country, as per the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

A news website, Cricbuzz, said that the BCB President talked about how Shakib, who is a very good player in many ways, will still be able to play for his country even though a lawyer from the supreme court in Bangladesh sent a letter saying that Shakib should not be on the team because he was mentioned in that report. The lawyer was talking about some rules from ICC.

The BCB President, Faruque Ahmed, said in a big newspaper in Bangladesh called Prothom Alo that they got a letter about not letting Shakib play, but they told the lawyer that he will still be playing.

The BCB President announced that Shakib will keep playing until the courts find him guilty. He intends to include Shakib in the team for their upcoming tour of India next month.

He explained, “An FIR has been filed, and it’s still early in the process. There are many steps to follow, and as long as he isn’t found guilty, we will continue to have him play. The Bangladesh team will travel to India after the series against Pakistan, and we want him to be part of that series too.

He is under contract with us, and if needed, we will provide him with legal support,” he further stated.

The versatile player won’t come back to the country after the Pakistan trip. He’ll be in England, participating in a four-day game for Surrey. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has given him permission to do so.

“He hasn’t played red-ball cricket in a while, and that’s why we’ve allowed him to play for Surrey. It will help him get used to red-ball cricket better than anything else,” a BCB official said, according to Cricbuzz.

Shakib was crucial in Bangladesh’s historic victory over Pakistan in Rawalpindi. In the final innings, he took three key wickets and bowled 16 consecutive overs to help the team win.

Bangladesh is scheduled to visit India, where they will play a two-match Test series and a three-match T20 series.
