Shahid Afridi Removed From The PCB Chief Selector Post, This Former Player Will Takeover The All-rounder

PCB chairman Najam Sethi nominated former Pakistani batter Haroon Rasheed as chief selector and stated that the other members of the selection panel would be announced later.

Shahid Afridi, who had been appointed interim chief selector by the current PCB government under Sethi, will be replaced by Rasheed, 69, who previously served as Pakistan’s chief selector between 2015 and 2016.

While appointing Haroon Rasheed, Sethi said, “Haroon has now resigned from the management committee as we don’t want a conflict of interest as he is now chief selector.”

Between 1977 and 1983, Rasheed appeared in 23 Tests and 12 ODIs for Pakistan. In addition to his prior position as a selector, Rasheed also held the positions of director of cricket operations for the PCB and team manager for Pakistan. Rasheed was named among the 14-member management committee for PCB cricket on December 22 of last year, but he will now resign from that position.

On December 24, the cricket management committee named Afridi as the interim chief selector, and Sethi wanted him to hold the position for a longer period of time. Afridi, on the other hand, wasn’t interested, citing his hectic schedule in addition to his foundation’s and charity work responsibilities.
