Duleep Trophy teams are announced by the BCCI for the second round as many players in the first Test squad of India against Bangladesh including Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Shubman Gill were withdrawn from the team. Although Akash Deep, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel are free from Round 2 as well but it’s a little bit different case for Sarfaraz Khan and Yash Dayal who had also been named for Test series opener.
Meanwhile, left-arm pacer Yash Dayal and Sarfaraz Khan who too are part of India’s 16-man squad for the opening Test have not been released from their Duleep Trophy commitments indicating that they would miss out on the playing eleven against Bangladesh in Chennai.
In a statement released by BCCI ahead of Duleep Trophy’s second round, “India B’s Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant have been included in India’s squad therefore selectors have included Suyash Prabhudessai and Rinku Singh as his replacements respectively. The fast bowler from Gujrat has received his maiden national call while Sarfaraz Khan who is also included in India’s squad will play in second round match.”
Duleep Trophy game Sarfaraz could be having KL Rahul in India’s XI. They were perceived as rivals for an available position in the middle-order.
Continuity has been maintained on the India C squad captained by Ruturaj Gaikwad.
In his first return to red-ball cricket since December 2022, Pant made a significant impact during the opening match of Duleep Trophy just like K L Rahaul and Akash Deep who also showed their worth there.
