Sanju Samson shatters this elusive milestone of Rohit Sharma in the 3rd T 20 against Bangladesh

Sanju Samson’s courage in upstaging Bangladesh in the 3rd T20I match of the three-match series, has gone down in the history books. Samson got his chances in the match played in Hyderabad on Saturday against the bowlers from Bangladesh and did not disappoint as he scored 111 off just 47 balls. India went on to amass a gigantic score of 297/6 in 20 overs. Later, the hosts managed to defend an insufficient total and restricted Bangladesh to 164/7 and clamped a clean series sweep of 3-0. Samson, with a century in 40 balls, has now become the second fastest Indian T20I century maker after Rohit Sharma (35 balls).

And in addition to this, Samson also added one more achievement to his name. While getting closer to this milestone, he scored a half-century in only 22 balls. This is the record for the fastest T20I fifty registered by an Indian batsman against Bangladesh.

Rohit is second on this list as he scored a fifty within the shortest time of 23 balls against Bangladesh in a T20I in 2019.

Samson was also the first ever Indian wicketkeeper-batter in history to get a T20 international century. It was also his first t20I ton and could just help him secure his position as the best wicketkeeper-batter in T20I. He has appeared in 33 T20Is and 29 innings scoring 594 runs with an average of 22.84, one hundred and two half centuries to his name.

“The dressing room energy and the boys really have lots of happiness for me. I am very happy. They are happy that I did well. It can get frustrating knowing what you can do out there and the way I have been batting, I thought that could have done much better. Those thoughts keep coming in your head. With a lot of experience and so many games I have played, I know how to deal with the pressure and failures,” said Samson during the post-match presentation.

“I have failed a lot, so I know how to manage my mind accordingly. I keep telling myself I just need to focus on the process, keep doing my training, keep believing in myself and one day it’ll come soon. Playing for the country, you come in with a lot of pressure. That pressure was there, I wanted to perform and I wanted to show what I am capable of,” he added.
