Rishabh Pant hasnât had the smoothest start as captain of Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2025 after being signed for a hefty amount at last year’s auction. So far, LSG has lost two of their first three matches, and Pant hasnât been much of a help with the bat either. In their season opener against Delhi Capitals, Pant didnât score any runs, and then he only managed 15 in a win against Sunrisers Hyderabad. In LSGâs first home game against Punjab Kings, he scored just 2 runs before being dismissed by Glenn Maxwell, leading to an eight-wicket loss for LSG.

After the game, LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka was seen having a serious chat with Pant, which reminded many of his past discussions with former captain KL Rahul last season, who was ultimately let go after a disappointing campaign. This latest loss has dropped LSG to sixth place, while Royal Challengers Bengaluru currently lead the table.
In a post-match interview, Pant acknowledged that they came up short by about 20-25 runs and that they were still figuring out the home conditions. âWe didnât put up enough runs. Itâs tough to chase down a big total when you lose early wickets, but everyone is putting in the effort to improve the game,â Pant shared.
Things wonât get any easier as LSG will face Mumbai Indians this Friday. MI has turned things around after starting with two losses, managing to beat the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders by eight wickets earlier this week.
