Sanjay Manjrekar drops a massive praise for Jasprit Bumrah

On a tough day for Team India, Jasprit Bumrah was the standout performer. At the end of Day 2 of the Leeds Test, England was at 209/3, but Bumrah was the only bowler who really threatened, taking all three wickets that fell. He ended the day with figures of 3/48, starting strong by dismissing Zak Crawley for just 4. He also took out Ben Duckett for 62 and Joe Root for 28, which was a key wicket for India.

Former cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar had high praise for Bumrah on ‘Match Centre Live’ after Day 2, saying he stood out among bowlers despite the four hundreds scored in the match. He compared Bumrah’s impact to legendary fast bowler Sir Richard Hadlee, noting how both could take wickets even when the conditions weren’t great. Manjrekar said, “Every time Bumrah comes in, it feels like a wicket is likely,” similar to how it was with Hadlee, who often played for a less strong New Zealand side.

Earlier in the match, England won the toss and chose to bowl. India had a solid start with centuries from Yashasvi Jaiswal (101), Shubman Gill (147), and Rishabh Pant (134), totaling 471 runs. At one point, they were at 430/4 before Ben Stokes (4/66) and Josh Tongue (4/86) helped trigger a batting collapse.
