Sanjay Bangar, who used to be the batting coach for the Indian cricket team, thinks Virat Kohli is going to perform well at the MA Chidambaram Stadium when the Chennai Super Kings face off against the Royal Challengers Bangalore on March 28. Kohli has had a hard time dealing with spin bowlers, especially those who bowl wrist spin, over the last couple of years. But Bangar believes that the 36-year-old has picked up some valuable lessons along the way and is ready to show everyone that he can still rise to the occasion, just like he did during the Champions Trophy.
Bangar acknowledges the challenges ahead but points out that when Kohli has someone explosive batting with him, he tends to adapt his game and manage the pace of the innings effectively. He mentioned that Kohli usually takes his time to assess the pitch before deciding how to tackle the spin challenge.
It’s definitely going to be tough, not just for Virat, but for all the players. CSK has some pretty good spin bowlers, so it really depends on how the game starts,” Bangar explained. “If Virat has a solid partner who can score quickly, he can really control how things go. He’s good at reading the pitch and coming up with a game plan based on that.”
He also added that Kohli will look to the pitch to figure out how to deal with the spin threat. Bangar pointed out that Kohli has proven himself time and again, even when people doubted his ability to handle spin or criticized his batting speed. “He has a knack for adjusting his style according to what his team needs and the situation,” he stated.
It’s worth noting that RCB had a solid start to the tournament, winning their first game against KKR by seven wickets, while CSK also came out on top against MI in their opener. All eyes will be on Kohli now, as fans are eager to see how he fares in this crucial match.
