Rajasthan Royals head coach Kumar Sangakkara has requested Riyan Parag not to think too much ahead and said that Riyan Parag will get India called up in the near future.
Riyan Parag continued his fine form in this year’s IPL, scoring his third fifty of the season. The batter from Aasam scored 76 of just 48 deliveries, helping the Rajasthan Royals reach 196 in their 20 overs; however, he was not able to save his team from losing the match.
Riyan Parag’s innings were praised by former Indian skipper and opener Sunil Gavaskar himself, who feels that selectors are keeping an eye on him.
Talking about Riyan Parag Kumar Sangakkara said that Parag has potential in him, but he should not be thinking too far and instead focus on his role for the Rajasthan royals.
Kumar Sangakkara said, “His potential is there for everyone to see. For him, it is about concentrating on Rajasthan and this season. Whatever happens will happen after that. You shouldn’t be too ahead of yourself in terms of looking ahead to the future. He is working very hard and batting really well. And if he continues to do that, good things will happen.”
Riyan Parag has so far had a fantastic season with the bat. The star batter has already scored 261 runs in five matches and is currently number two in Orange Cap’s race.
Riyan Parag will be next seen in action against the Punjab kings on April 13 at Mullanpur.
