Sam Konstas drops a massive statement regarding his verbal Spat with Jasprit Bumrah

The Australian stylish opener Sam Kossak made a lot of fans and a few foes as well through his animatic batting in the last two matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. In Sydney, Konstas even clashed up with India’s Jasprit Bumrah days before stumps on Day 1 and sparked a huge chatter around his act all over social media. He needlessly interfered with something between Usman Khawaja and the pacer from India. Anyway, the rookie opened up on the incident, even though it was mostly just between him and Bumrah after his interference that fired up the bowler into careering Khawaja out on the next delivery.

“Oh, I didn’t get too fazed. Obviously, Uzi got out unfortunately. He was trying to buy a little bit of time. Probably for me, but it happens. That’s cricket. Credit to Bumrah, got the wicket but obviously great team performance,” Konstas said in an interview with Timple M Cricket.

The young opener, who wishes to replace David Warner as Australia’s opener for a long time to come, also spoke about the special pink test at Sydney since he lost a few family members to cancer.

“Of course it’s a special event, the McGrath Foundation, and hopefully we can get more awareness out there for cancer and get the funding in because I remember my cousin died with leukaemia and my grandpa with bowel cancer. So really it’s about hopefully getting awareness and getting the cure, “Konstas said.

On the other hand India head coach Gautam Gambhir minced no words as he unleashed his ire on Konstas for riling up Bumrah.

“It’s a tough sport played by tough men. You can’t be that soft. As simple as it can get. I don’t think there was anything intimidating about it,” he said in the press conference after the match

“He had no right to be talking to Jasprit Bumrah when Usman Khawaja was taking time. He had no right. He had no business to be involved with Jasprit Bumrah, that was a job for the umpire.”

“I think whatever has happened is history. Whatever happened, happened. It is a tough sport played by tough men and these things happen. I don’t think we need to make a big issue out of it.”
