INDvsSA: Star Pacer Is Ruled Out Of The Ind vs SA T20 Series; New Squad Announced

India and South Africa will face each other in the three-match T20I series starting on December 10. Before it, the Proteas had a huge setback as the star pacer Lungi Ngidi was ruled out from the T20 series against India. He has been ruled out due to a left lateral ankle sprain.

The 27-year-old has been excluded from the squad and will go back to his provincial team. There, he will undergo rehabilitation with the Momentum Multiply Titans under the guidance of the Proteas medical team.

Originally slated to participate in the four-day matches scheduled from 14-17 December as part of the preparation for the two-match Test series, he will now undergo additional assessment by the medical team to gauge his progress. Western Province fast bowler Beuran Hendricks has been selected as the replacement for Lungi Ngidi.

At 33 years old, Hendricks will play in the specialist seamer position in the team, contending with Ottniel Baartman, Nandre Burger, Gerald Coetzee, and Lizaad Williams, all of whom possess comparatively lesser experience. The star pacer of South Africa has been rested for the series.

The first match between India and South Africa will be played on December 10 in Durban. After that, the ODI series will start on December 17. The tour will end with a two-match Test series which will start from December 26.

South Africa T20I squad: Aiden Markram (captain), Ottniel Baartman, Matthew Breetzke, Nandre Burger, Gerald Coetzee, Donovan Ferreira, Reeza Hendricks, Marco Jansen, Heinrich Klaasen, Keshav Maharaj, David Miller, Beuran Hendricks, Andile Phehlukwayo, Tabraiz Shamsi, Tristan Stubbs and Lizaad Williams
