Ryan ten Doeschate provides an interesting insight about Rohit Sharma’s fitness

Assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate gave an update on Rohit Sharma ahead of India&’s important ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Group A confrontation with New Zealand on Sunday. Ten Doeschate told journalists in Dubai that Rohit is managing his injury properly. “He’s okay.” He is batting as you can see, and earlier he did some fielding. “It is a previous damage he is familiar with handling so he is on top of it really well, he said.

The wicketkeeping pair of KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant also came up in the debate. Though Pant has been on the sideline, ten Doeschate admitted that choosing teams at the top level is challenging.

Rishabh has found not playing really difficult, but would say that is the kind of sport at this level. KL has been great. He went a few times, and he said it’s hard to obtain good opportunities when one is batting six or seven

Still, the ex-Netherlands national emphasized Rahul’s significance in critical times.

He remarked, “Clearly, he did very well in the third ODI in India, and that knock versus Bangladesh turned out to be vital in the end.”

Ten Doeschate underlined the need of keeping Pant ready with India possessing two top-notch wicketkeepers.

“Rishabh has to be kept working. “Certainly, it is a good thing to have two wickets of that level; we never know when we have to have him, he remarked.

As he waits for his chance, India’s first-choice wicketkeeper batter KL Rahul confessed he felt the stress of Rishabh Pant approaching his throat. Rahul confessed there is always a “temptation” to field either the fiery southpaw or Pant from the bench.

Former cricket players and fans have divided views on India head coach Gautam Gambhir and his administration&’s choice of Rahul over Pant. Some have embraced the management&’s choice to maintain Rahul in the ODI loop; others have pointed in Pant’s support, noting his limited-over influence.

Rahul confessed the performance pressure element and broke the silence about playing before Pant. ” There is – I won’t lie – the experienced batter is not trying to intercede with Pant but rather trying to do the best and adhere to his game.” I mean, he is obviously a very, very good player and he has demonstrated for all of us what he can achieve, as well as how aggressive and how fast he can affect the game. He said in a Friday press conference: So sure, the team always wants to either play him or play me, whoever the captain, the coach is to – there is always that urge.

Rahul has taken up his position as a wicket keeper batter in the ongoing Champions Trophy. Against Bangladesh in the first game of the Champions Trophy, he continued his red-hot form with a calm 41* from 47 deliveries, including a lone four and two towering maximums.
