Ruturaj Gaikwad gives a surprising reason for CSK’s loss against SRH

Chennai Super Kings skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad feels that bad bowling in powerplay was one of the major reasons behind CSK’s loss against SRH. This is CSK’s second consecutive loss of the season.

Speaking after the match, Gaikwad said that they did not have the best powerplay, as 165 was a below-par score. Gaikwad said, “I think to start off with our bowling, we didn’t have the best powerplay, with one dropped catch and one big over. However, I feel that dragging the game until the 18th over was a great effort. 170–175 is a par score. If we had had good powerplay with the ball, we could have won the game. There was a slight dew in the later stages.”

Gaikwad further stated that his team failed to capitalize on the final five overs of their innings in batting. Chennai scored just 38 runs in the final five overs against the Sunrisers.

Gaikwad said, “It was a slow pitch. Towards the end, their bowling was effective. We couldn’t take advantage of the final five overs. We were in a promising position at the halfway mark, but they bowled well in the latter part of the innings.”

Ruturaj further added, “I think it was a black soil pitch, so we kind of expected the slowness. But as the ball aged, it slowed down even further, and we couldn’t capitalize at the end. Additionally, they utilized the conditions well on their side of the boundary.”
Chennai will now face KKR on April 8.
