Due to strained relations, India’s white-ball tour to Bangladesh is likely canceled. The tour, planned for August 17-31 with three ODIs and three T20Is, is off, according to reports.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) hopes to reschedule, but has stopped selling media rights for the tour. Cricbuzz reports that the BCB is now selling media rights for the Pakistan series starting July 17.
A BCB official told Cricbuzz, We will keep researching the market and take our time. There’s no need to rush. We can offer different contracts.
The report says Indian broadcasters were told the series is off.
An Indian broadcaster told Cricbuzz, They told us there is no India series. After announcing the tender, they didn’t provide the ITT and are only selling for the Pakistan series right now.
India and Pakistan have had tension since the Pahalgam attack, and Bangladesh has joined in.
A final decision on the series is expected in a week.
The BCB official added, The India series date isn’t set. They (BCCI) said it’s hard for them to come in August. This is part of the FTP.
The BCB awaits approval from the Indian government, which hasn’t committed to the series.
The report also stated, Relations between India and Bangladesh have been strained lately, so India seems not in favor of touring Bangladesh. Both sides haven’t made official statements, but it’s thought that the government has advised the BCCI against the tour due to the diplomatic situation. This comes from talks with people connected to the series.
NDTV sources say the Indian government will let the Pakistani team play in upcoming tournaments in India.
A ministry source said on Thursday that Pakistan’s hockey teams can compete in next month’s Asia Cup and the Junior World Cup in India. Blocking rivals from multi-nation competitions in the country would break the Olympic Charter.
